This is the largest ethnic festival in the state of Hawaii. The two-day festival celebrates Okinawan culture with food, entertainment, arts, crafts, and cultural activities. The 2018 Okinawan Festival will be held at the Hawaii Convention Center.

Learn about Okinawan and Japanese culture with  educational booths on Okinawan language (Uchinaaguchi) and genealogy; displays of Okinawan ceramics, glassware and textiles; and bonsai plants by the Hawaii Bonsai Association; demonstrations of calligraphy and flower arrangement and dress in traditional Okinawan attire (bingata kimono with hanagasa headdress and/or as a paranku drummer) and have your picture taken by a professional photographer. Craft Gallery with beautiful craft and art-to-wear items will be available.

September 1 (Saturday) 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Bon Dance 5:30 – 9:30pm

  • Live entertainment and activities : 9:30 am – 5:00 pm
  • Bon Dance : 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm (some food booths will remain open until 8 pm)
  • Center parking open from 7:00 am; Shuttle from McKinley High School begins at 7:00 am
  • Convention Center doors open at 9:00 am; Center closes at 10:00 pm

September 2 (Sunday) 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

  • Live entertainment and activities : 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
  • Center parking open from 7:00 am;
  • Shuttle from McKinley High School begins at 7:00 am
  • Convention Center doors open at 9:00 am; Center closes at 10:00 pm
