Oʻahu sparkles in the sunshine, but glows under the steadfast gaze of the moon. While much of our island’s glory is revealed during the day, there is a whole world to explore when the sun sets below the horizon. Waikiki, Honolulu, and the entire island of Oʻahu are hot spots for noctourism, a word formed from combining ‘nocturnal’ and ‘tourism’. Once the lights go down, a new type of adventure begins, starting right here at Prince Waikiki.

Waikiki Fireworks
Every Friday, fireworks light up the night along the Waikiki shoreline. Dazzling displays of color decorate the sky right in front of Prince Waikiki, making it the perfect addition to any vacation. Typically starting around 7:45 or 8 PM, depending on the time of year, the fireworks launch from a barge just off Duke Kahanamoku Beach, and the whole community is invited, including Prince Waikiki guests. Pack a snack and blanket, and head to the beach ahead of the show to grab the best seat in the house. And if you’d prefer to stay closer to your home away from home, watch the fireworks from Hinana Bar or reserve a window table at 100 Sails Restaurant & Bar for a comfortable, sought-after seat with a delectable menu to match.
Enjoy a Sunset Cruise
Slip into a dreamy evening touring the coast with a sunset sail. With many experienced and established captains and crews based in our neighborhood, you can’t go wrong with any choice of cruise. Holokai Catamaran Adventures sails out of Waikiki and offers sunset cruises every night of the week, with Fridays being 21+. Here, you can sit back, relax, and feel the aloha spirit. Living Ocean offers you unbeatable views of the land and sea with their double-decker boat, Coral Kai. Living Ocean has a BYOB policy for guests 21+, so be sure to come prepared. Hawaii Glass Bottom Boat shows you the best of the sky and ocean with their unique boats. With this company, you can peer at the wonders above and below the surface as you sail into a bucket list experience.
Catch a Feature Film Under the Stars
As proud partners of the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF), we are thrilled to bring you Summer Flix every Wednesday until August 6. Featuring family favorites and hidden gems, we welcome everyone to our Muliwai Deck for these complimentary screenings under the night sky. HIFF celebrates international cinematic achievement in the Asia-Pacific region, recognizing new and emerging talent, promoting career development, and fostering original collaborations. An essential part of our cultural landscape, we hope you love the shows as much as we love being a part of the festival.
Night Markets in Oʻahu
Local vendors, divine delicacies, and handmade wares; a night market in Hawaii is a treat for the senses. Usually with live music and other entertainment, these nighttime events are a fun way to explore the island’s culture and see what happens outside of the expected tourist activities. In Honolulu, venture down to Honolulu Harbor Nights from 5:00 PM – 9:30 PM, a curated night market that happens every Friday on the old Fisherman’s Wharf. These weekend kick-offs bring good vibes and local artisans. A little outside the city, you can visit the Pearlridge Center on Saturdays for the Village Night Market, a food-centric market from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM. With lots of seating options, make sure you come hungry! Thursdays are a party at Makiki Farmers Market at St. Cements. From 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM, you’ll find fresh produce, live music, and unique food vendors. No matter where you end up spending your night, you’re sure to see how all these local vendors come together, each with their own fabric, to knit together the fine tapestry of Oʻahu.
Luau’s in the Evening
Luaus are an important part of Hawaiian culture. Traditionally meant to celebrate special occasions, Luaus now also play the vital role of showcasing and introducing our traditions and history to the world. Paradise Cove hosts phenomenal luaus just outside Waikiki and offers round-trip transportation to ensure you arrive and return safely. At the iconic Aloha Tower, Ka Moana Luau showcases the culture of the Pacific Islands. Toa Luau is found on the gorgeous North Shore, and your ticket grants you access to Waimea Valley. Wherever you choose to go to take in a Luau, we know our fellow islanders will take care of you and show you an unforgettable experience.
